Pipes, Valves & Fittings
A pipe, valve or fitting belongs to a system.
Illustrative imagery. No company-owned facility, stock or personnel is represented.

Connection and material
Follow the medium.
Define the connection.
A pipe, valve or fitting belongs to a system. Nominal size alone leaves the connection, material, pressure, temperature and service medium unresolved. Put the component’s function and the buyer’s system requirements into the enquiry.
A component belongs in an application. Record the connection, physical fit and material requirement so proposed items can be considered on a useful basis.
Begin with the reference information available and identify what still needs clarification. The examples below describe enquiry groups, rather than a statement of stock, brand authorization or guaranteed supply.
Examples of requirements
A clearer product grouping.
Pipe and tube with specified dimensions
Describe the pipe dimensions, material and applicable project reference.
Valves identified by type and service
Give the valve type, connection and stated service requirements.
Fittings, flanges and gaskets
Identify each fitting geometry and the connections at both ends.
Build a useful specification
Keep the important
details together.
Identification and physical fit
- Component type and application
- Fluid or gas and service conditions
- Specified material, dimensions and schedule
Commercial and document details
- Connection type and required standard
- Buyer-specified pressure and temperature
- Quantity and item reference
- Datasheets, drawings and project documents
Review the difference
A possible match
needs an understandable basis.
Can pipes or valves be matched by nominal size alone?
Compare the complete requirement. A matching nominal size does not resolve a different connection, material or rating. System suitability requires the relevant technical review.
Why should a piping enquiry identify the service medium?
Describe what the component will carry and the project’s stated conditions. The medium gives compatibility questions context instead of leaving a potential supplier to infer the service.
Add the quantity, unit of measure, destination and required date. Mark any uncertain detail clearly. Availability, pricing, lead time and delivery arrangements must be confirmed for the individual enquiry.

Prepare your RFQ
Pipes, Valves & Fittings: enquiry essentials.
For pipes, valves & fittings, bring nominal size and connection, material and rating and medium and service conditions. Keep the requested item and any proposed change on the same line of your enquiry.
| RFQ field | Information to record |
|---|---|
| Product identity | Component type and application |
| Fit / configuration | Fluid or gas and service conditions |
| Application requirement | Specified material, dimensions and schedule |
| Additional detail | Connection type and required standard |
| Additional detail | Buyer-specified pressure and temperature |
| Additional detail | Quantity and item reference |
| Additional detail | Datasheets, drawings and project documents |
| Missing information | Write “unknown” and attach the available reference; do not infer a rating or approval. |
| Quantity / destination | State the quantity, ordering unit, delivery destination and required date. |
Use the product enquiry guide to organize a multi-item request. Price, availability and delivery terms are confirmed for the individual enquiry.
