UPS & Power Distribution
Power equipment enquiries need a defined load context and compatible electrical interfaces.
Illustrative imagery. No company-owned facility, stock or personnel is represented.

Physical infrastructure context
Define the power requirement.
Confirm the interfaces.
UPS units, rack power distribution units and related accessories need to be described around the project’s approved power requirement. A capacity figure by itself may not establish the configuration, input and output connections, monitoring interface or accessory compatibility needed for the installation.
Racks, power, cooling and monitoring products form parts of a connected physical arrangement. Define the equipment and project requirements that the proposed item must support.
Begin with the reference information available and identify what still needs clarification. The examples below describe enquiry groups, rather than a statement of stock, brand authorization or guaranteed supply.
Examples of requirements
A clearer product grouping.
UPS and equipment-specific power accessory enquiries
Give the UPS model, required configuration and buyer-defined load context.
Rack power distribution units and connection accessories
Record the PDU input connection and required output receptacle arrangement.
Mounting and monitoring accessories for identified systems
Identify each power accessory against the exact equipment it must support.
Build a useful specification
Keep the important
details together.
Equipment and configuration
- Project power requirement and equipment reference
- Specified input/output voltage and phase arrangement
- Approved capacity and runtime requirements where relevant
Interfaces and project documents
- Plug, socket and connection configuration
- Mounting, dimensions and monitoring interfaces
- Quantity and required accessories
- Project-required datasheets and acceptance documents
Review the difference
A possible match
needs an understandable basis.
Does a similar power rating establish UPS or PDU compatibility?
Confirm the complete specified configuration. A similar capacity or product family is not enough to establish compatibility with the project’s electrical design.
What should a rack PDU or UPS accessory enquiry include?
For a rack PDU, include both the supply connection and required outlet arrangement. For a UPS accessory, identify the exact compatible equipment model.
Add the quantity, unit of measure, destination and required date. Mark any uncertain detail clearly. Availability, pricing, lead time and delivery arrangements must be confirmed for the individual enquiry.
Prepare your RFQ
UPS & Power Distribution: enquiry essentials.
For ups & power distribution, bring supply connection, outlet layout or UPS model and load and runtime requirements. Keep the requested item and any proposed change on the same line of your enquiry.
| RFQ field | Information to record |
|---|---|
| Product identity | Project power requirement and equipment reference |
| Fit / configuration | Specified input/output voltage and phase arrangement |
| Application requirement | Approved capacity and runtime requirements where relevant |
| Additional detail | Plug, socket and connection configuration |
| Additional detail | Mounting, dimensions and monitoring interfaces |
| Additional detail | Quantity and required accessories |
| Additional detail | Project-required datasheets and acceptance documents |
| Missing information | Write “unknown” and attach the available reference; do not infer a rating or approval. |
| Quantity / destination | State the quantity, ordering unit, delivery destination and required date. |
Use the product enquiry guide to organize a multi-item request. Price, availability and delivery terms are confirmed for the individual enquiry.
Keep power capacity and runtime distinct.
For a UPS enquiry, state the required load and backup duration separately. Capacity and runtime are different parts of the requirement; the proposed model must be reviewed against both. Eaton: UPS sizing guide.
Manufacturer guidance for context, not a supply authorization or a project-specific selection. The responsible technical reviewer must assess the actual configuration.
Start the conversation
A clearer enquiry starts
with the details that matter.
Bring the part reference, drawing or product list you have. Mark the details that still need to be clarified.
